Sorry for not updating lately, there has been some trouble with my computer that I just got fixed, so I have had no access to the internet for the past few days. Now for todays review: Let Me In, I know I promised a review of The Social Network, but unfortunately the one in my group that was supposed to get the tickets forgot, so by the time we got there it was already sold out and the only movie going any time soon was Let Me In.
Honestly I am a bit happy The Social Network was sold out, if it hadn't been I probably would have had no desire to see this movie and never would have gone; which would have been a big loss on my part because this was a very good movie. It is an American remake of the Swedish film Let the Right One In, which is based on the book of the same name, I have been told that the Swedish version of the movie is much better than this by some people, and a few have told me the opposite; but I have never seen the Swedish version or read the book so I couldn't tell you which is better.
This movie stars Chloe Moretz and Kodi Smit-McPhee and both did very well with the rather adult roles they were given in the movie, Chloe plays Abby the vampire that needs to kill to survive, and Kodi plays a child that has been bullied mercilessly by a group of bigger children at his school and he fantasizes about getting revenge on them. These two were very compelling together and were able to play their roles very well, though I think Chloe outshines Kodi if only for the fact that she is able to pull off her vampiric monster looks so well, then switch back to a sweet little girl.
The adults in this movie don't seem to have much depth to their character which is a bit of a flaw with this movie, though there is one notable exception with Richard Jenkins who plays Abby's guardian and takes care of her need for blood by finding and killing people and draining them of their blood. He does really well in this movie, which is unsurprising considering that he has done well in all the roles I have seen him in.
Overall I would say that this movie was done well, and since I don't have the any preconceived notions about what it should be based off the originals I say it is well worth the time and money to see, of course I would love to hear what anyone that has seen this movie thinks, especially if they have also seen the original or read the book and would like to say how this measures up against them.

I am going to go see this movie either tonight or tomorrow so I should have a solid review for you tomorrow night or Sunday morning; but I have been looking forward to this movie for a while and have heard nothing but good things about it so I think the review should be fairly positive. if anyone has seen it already I would love to hear what you thought about it in the comments.

Buried
Just saw this trailer on youtube and I have to say it looks like it will be an interesting movie, especially since I have always liked Ryan Reynolds, hopefully the movie lives up to my expectations.

Fable 3
As I am sure anyone that cares to know already does, Fable 3 will be coming out this October; and I don't know about you but I am a bit apprehensive about it. Both Fable 1&2 were good games but so many of the promised features were left out of both that it was kind of a let down when playing the game and expecting to see something that wasn't there. I am sure something similar will happen this time around to, I am sure I will enjoy the game but I am not sure I trust what features are said to be in the game

Civilization V
I know this game was released already, but I still haven't got it yet due to lack of cash. I have been a fan of this series since the second installment and have loved seeing how much it has grown, both in appearance, tactics, and modding community. the modding community has obviously been a real boon to this series and made it what it is today and I just can't wait to see what mods people will come up with for this game. I hope this trailer will help convince others to join in with the community.

Devil
Last night I saw Devil written by M. Night Shyamalan, which is about a group of people that are trapped in an elevator in a skyscraper which a man committed suicide in earlier that day by jumping through the window, in his suicide note he comments that the he can here the devils footsteps getting closer. meanwhile in the elevator the group that got trapped is getting hurt, and even starting to die whenever the lights flicker off in the elevator. Each member of the group has some secret about their lives that brought them into these circumstance.
Overall the movie was good, or at least a lot better than I expected. The past few movies with M. Night Shyamalan's name on it haven't been very good, with twists that have left me wanting something far more than was provided but this one didn't seem to have a very bad 'twist' at all. This movie was good as I said earlier but, I am not sure if it is good enough to say you should go buy a movie ticket for it, perhaps waiting until it hits redbox or something like that.

Welcome to kovalachi's weekly word, this is my first post so I may as well say what I plan to write about with this blog, I plan on writing about movies, games, tech news, and whatever else strikes my fancy and update at least three times a week though that may change as time goes on. for my first write up I will be reviewing the movie going the distance which I saw last night. so first a description:
Going the Distance is about a couple that meets six weeks before Drew Berrymore's character Erin moves back from New York to California to attend Stanford and finish a degree on journalism, the first part of the movie focuses on their meeting and initial relationship, which goes far better than either of them expected. From there they decide to try to do a long distance relationship and deal with whatever trouble comes along with that, from being faithful, to trying to work out phone sex.
The movie was much better than I expected when I saw the previews, Justin Long and Drew Berrymore have an amazing chemistry and their relationship looks so real that it is easy to fall into their world and believe the movie is a peek at the lives of their characters rather than just a movie that someone wrote and pitched to a movie studio. The comedy of this movie is really good as well, and appeals really well to men that got dragged along by their girlfriend or wife to watch some chick-flick, as well as women that want to laugh. overall I would say this is one of the best movies I have seen in some time, though it may be tied or slightly behind The Other Guys as favorite releases this year. So to those that read this I really suggest going to see Going the Distance, it is well worth the money despite some less than stellar reviews from other sources.
Well that about wraps it up for today, hope those that read this far come back again, and bring some friends with you. Until next time.
